The Examination of Mrs. Anne Hutchinson at the Court at Newton, 1637

Adapted for the stage by J-Powers

Text Box: The Cast

This work portrays the actual trial of a Puritan mother accused of crimes against the government.  While today she is revered as one of our culture’s first champions of religious tolerance, in 1637 she was seen by the authorities as the root cause of rebellion and Satan’s subversion of the Puritan ideal of a “city set upon a hill.”
