T-Lou & the Red Hot Zydeco Band

Concerts in Park is a program of Torrance Cultural Services Division presented in co-sponsorship with the Office of Supervisor Don Knabe, Los Angeles County Arts Commission, and The Daily Breeze.  They are offered with support of Torrance Homeowners Associations.  Friends and families are encouraged to bring a picnic, lawn chairs, and umbrellas.

Louis Joseph Eaglin, otherwise known as “T-Lou,” hails from the town of Grand Coteau, Louisiana, where his music calls home.  His six-member group, one of the best appreciated Zydeco bands in the world today, has performed at festivals and cultural venues throughout southern California.

According to the Encyclopedia of Cajun Culture, “Zydeco is a popular accordion-based musical genre hailing from the prairies of south-central and southwest Louisiana.  Contrary to popular belief, it is not Cajun in origin; rather, Zydeco is the music of south Louisiana’s Creoles of Color, who borrowed many of Zydeco’s defining elements from Cajun music.   The word Zydeco derives from the French expression les haricots, meaning "beans."  Folk etymology holds that the genre obtained this name from the common Creole expression "Les haricots sont pas salés" ("The beans aren’t salty").
